Barrier Free HISA Shower Remodel for Cynthia

Apr 25, 2025

Sometimes, all it takes is removing a wall to completely transform a space — and this project was a perfect example of that.

Our client came to us with a common challenge: a tight, closed-off shower that just wasn’t functional anymore. The layout felt dated, and the space lacked the open, clean look they were after. So, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

The first step? Demolition. Out came the old shower pan, tile surround, outdated valve, and even the right-side wall and door. Don’t worry — we kept things clean with our HEPA dust collection system to keep the home (and lungs) happy during the process.

With the old space cleared out, we prepped for something much more modern and accessible. We installed a beautiful barrier-free white marbled shower pan with a center drain — easy to enter and elegant to look at. The walls were finished with stunning 12×24 marble-look tile, creating a serene and timeless vibe. Every joint was sealed with color-matched silicone for a polished, water-tight finish.

Where there once was a narrow entry and awkward layout, we framed out the wall opening, added drywall, and blended the texture right into the existing walls. It looked like it had always been there.

We also made this shower work smarter. ADA-compliant backing was added behind the walls to support grab bars and a flip-down teak seat, offering both safety and comfort. The client brought her own beautiful handheld shower wand to pair with the new valve, adding a personal touch to the final result.

To finish it off, we installed a custom glass surround with a clean, minimal design — one fixed panel, one sliding door, and brushed nickel hardware to tie it all together. And yes, it’s got a spot-resistant coating because no one likes scrubbing glass.

As for the rest of the room? A new soft-close barn door brought a modern twist and made the entry much more functional. We even added a new can light tied to the vanity switch, because lighting makes all the difference.

A small corner shelf went in right where the client wanted it, perfect for keeping essentials handy without cluttering the space.

This remodel was all about removing what didn’t work — and replacing it with thoughtful details that make the space feel more open, more functional, and a whole lot more beautiful.
