When our client reached out, they had a clear goal in mind: say goodbye to a bulky, outdated shower and hello to a space that’s safer, sleeker, and built for comfort. We love a good transformation story, and this one didn’t disappoint!
We kicked things off by removing the old shower pan, walls, valve, and glass enclosure. As always, we brought our HEPA dust collection system along for the ride, making sure the rest of the home stayed as clean and undisturbed as possible. Once the space was cleared out, it was time to lay the groundwork for something completely new.
First up was prepping the walls with moisture-resistant greenboard and installing secure backing for the grab bars and seat to come. We then placed a gorgeous 34″ x 60″ white composite stone barrier-free shower pan — slip-resistant and easy to step into, making it both stylish and functional. To match, a smooth white acrylic surround wrapped around three walls, sealed tightly for a clean, water-tight finish. We even relocated the drain to perfectly fit the new design.
But this wasn’t just about looks — it was about thoughtful accessibility too. We installed a Moen Adler posi-temp valve with a handheld wand and brushed nickel finish, carefully relocating the valve to the back wall so it could be easily reached from a seated position. To make things even easier, we added a suction cup mount for the handheld by the seat — just where it’s needed most.
Next came the safety upgrades: three brushed nickel Moen grab bars from their designer series, all ADA compliant and backed with sturdy 2×6 framing for solid support. To complete the experience, we added a teak folding shower seat — 18″ x 15″, warm and elegant, yet strong and practical.
And of course, we couldn’t finish a space like this without a little sparkle. The final touch was a stunning Kohler sliding glass door: one fixed panel, one smooth slider, and all the brushed nickel hardware to tie everything together. It brought just the right balance of openness and privacy, while letting the beauty of the new shower shine through.
This project wasn’t just a remodel — it was a transformation. From demolition to the final glass panel, everything was done with comfort, safety, and long-term ease in mind. Now, our client has a bright, modern, barrier-free shower space they can truly enjoy — every single day.
