Sometimes, a bathroom renovation is more than just a facelift—it’s a chance to create a space that truly works for the people who use it. That was the heart of this recent project: to craft a functional, beautiful, and accessible shower that meets today’s needs while offering long-term comfort and ease of use.
The project began with a full demolition of the old shower setup. Out went the existing shower pan, surround, valve, and glass enclosure. Everything was removed efficiently, and a HEPA dust collection system helped minimize disruption and dust throughout the rest of the home—a thoughtful touch that made a big difference.
Once the space was clear, it was time to build something better.
The foundation of the new shower is a spacious 48 x 42 white composite stone pan. It’s barrier-free and slip-resistant, providing both safety and accessibility. A new drain was installed and carefully relocated to fit the new pan perfectly. Moisture-resistant greenboard was used to prep the walls, and sturdy backing was installed behind the surface—future-proofing the space for grab bars and other accessories.
The walls were finished in a clean, timeless white acrylic surround with a classic subway tile pattern. Every joint and seam was expertly sealed to ensure durability and a polished, watertight finish.
Safety features were thoughtfully integrated. Existing grab bars were reinstalled using ADA-compliant mounting systems, giving peace of mind without sacrificing design. Two teak folding shower seats were added with reinforced backing—making it easy to sit, relax, or accommodate varying mobility needs.
Storage was considered too: two sleek corner shelves in chrome were installed where the homeowner needed them most, offering convenient spots for soap, shampoo, and shower essentials.
The final touch? A custom semi-frameless glass enclosure. Designed to fit the new layout perfectly, the glass includes a 32″ door and chrome hardware. A special spot-resistant coating on the inside helps reduce water marks and makes cleaning easier. Since custom glass takes time to fabricate and deliver, a temporary shower curtain can be hung upon request—so the homeowner doesn’t have to wait to enjoy their upgraded space.
This project is a shining example of how smart design, thoughtful upgrades, and a touch of craftsmanship can turn a standard bathroom into something truly special—safe, stylish, and built to last.
