HISA Approved Barrier Free Shower for Joseph

Some home projects go beyond tile and tools—they’re about creating a space that makes daily life easier, safer, and more enjoyable. That was exactly the goal for this special bathroom transformation.

We kicked things off with a full demolition: out went the old shower pan, tub, valve, and all surrounding material. It was important to do this with care, so we used a HEPA dust collection system throughout the process to keep the rest of the home clean and comfortable.

With a fresh slate in place, it was time to bring the new vision to life.

At the core of this renovation was a beautiful barrier-free shower system designed for safety and accessibility. We prepped the walls with moisture-resistant materials and added solid backing to support future grab bars. Then we installed a sleek, slip-resistant composite stone shower pan—low profile and easy to enter, perfect for all ages and abilities.

The walls were wrapped in a stunning acrylic surround that reaches all the way to the ceiling, finished in a warm Madiera Granite tone that adds richness and dimension. Every joint was sealed for durability and long-lasting beauty.

For enhanced accessibility, we installed a grab bar using ADA-compliant mounting. Backing was added behind the walls to ensure it stays firmly in place and provides reliable support for years to come.

One of the most thoughtful changes? We relocated the shower valve to the center of the back wall. That small adjustment makes a big difference—it’s now easy to reach without stepping fully into the shower, offering added convenience and safety.

But perhaps the most heartwarming part of this project came in the details.

As a thank-you to the homeowner, a proud veteran, we included an additional discount in appreciation of their service. And because they had admired a tower caddy for storing their shower items but opted not to splurge—we made the decision to upgrade them anyway. A small surprise, but one filled with gratitude and joy.

At the end of the day, this wasn’t just about upgrading a bathroom. It was about honoring a homeowner, improving quality of life, and creating a space that blends function with comfort. This project reminded us that the best renovations aren’t just built—they’re felt.
