HISA Approved Barrier Free Shower for Katrina

Some makeovers start with a splash of paint. Others start with a total transformation — and this one? It was the kind of project that gave us the chance to hit the reset button on an entire bathroom. Out with the old, in with the beautiful, accessible, and refreshingly modern!

From the start, our client was ready for a fresh beginning. We began by clearing the space completely: the shower pan, tub, toilet, vanity, flooring, surround, baseboards, and even the valve — all removed with care. And as always, we protected the rest of the home using our trusty HEPA dust collection system to minimize airborne particles and keep everything clean during demolition.

With a blank canvas in front of us, we got to work building the dream bathroom. We prepped the shower walls with moisture-resistant greenboard and reinforced the area with solid backing for grab bars. The new white composite stone, barrier-free, slip-resistant shower pan set the tone for a space focused on safety and ease. Above it, we installed a stunning three-wall acrylic surround in a silver-white marble finish, wrapped all the way to the ceiling — including around the window — and sealed every joint with precision.

A matte black Moen Genta shower valve added a striking contrast to the serene palette, complete with a sleek handheld wand that blends style and functionality perfectly. To match, we installed three ADA-compliant designer grab bars in black, both practical and modern.

Down at floor level, we brought warmth and sophistication with new luxury vinyl planking throughout, paired with fresh composite baseboards. The flooring was not only beautiful but durable — perfect for a space that sees daily use.

The vanity installation was another highlight. We moved the plumbing to accommodate a new 36″ brown vanity, complete with updated angle stops and feed lines. An electrical outlet was added for a power strip, and we installed a matching faucet (chosen by the homeowner) and a customer-supplied mirror above — small touches that made the space feel complete.

For comfort and functionality, a new ADA-height toilet was installed, featuring a soft-close lid, dual flush, and an elongated seat. And to finish off the shower, a clear glass, semi-frameless sliding enclosure with matte black trim brought the entire design together — airy, elegant, and easy to use.

We wrapped things up with drywall repairs and texture matching to seamlessly blend with the existing walls. While we didn’t paint, we offered a painter recommendation so our client could complete their vision.

From top to bottom, this bathroom now shines with modern features, thoughtful accessibility, and a sense of calm sophistication. It’s more than just a remodel — it’s a fresh start, designed to make everyday routines smoother and more enjoyable.
