This bathroom remodel was all about transforming a dated, worn shower into a clean, safe, and functional space that offers comfort and style in equal measure.
The project began with a full removal of the existing shower, including the trim, old doors, surround, and plumbing elements. The ceiling trim was also removed to allow for a more seamless update. To minimize disruption during demolition, a HEPA dust collection system was used to help control debris and keep the home clean.
Beneath the surface, we cut into the floor to access and replace the old p-trap, making sure the new drainage system was properly installed. Once complete, the new barrier-free, slip-resistant shower pan was cut to size, leveled, and securely set in place for long-term durability and ease of use.
With the plumbing roughed in, we installed a new mixer valve and shower head, providing both improved performance and user-friendly temperature control. Next, three new plywood wall panels were mounted from the pan to the ceiling, laying the foundation for the new shower enclosure.
The three-piece acrylic shower walls, finished in a white marbled subway tile pattern, were installed for a clean, classic look. All seams and joints were carefully sealed with silicone for maximum protection against water damage.
To enhance safety and convenience, we added three grab bars, each supported by properly installed wall backing, along with a metal corner shelf placed exactly where the homeowner requested for easy access to toiletries.
For a simple and effective enclosure, a weighted shower curtain was installed on a sturdy new rod. Final touches included installing new trim, caulking around the edges, and giving the entire shower area a thorough cleaning.
