When it comes to creating a bathroom that is not only beautiful but also safe and accessible, every detail matters. That’s exactly what this recent bathroom transformation accomplished—by focusing on accessibility, durability, and timeless design.
The journey began with a thorough demolition of the old setup. The tub, wall surround, valve, and even the raised step at the shower entry were removed, clearing the way for a clean, level entryway. A HEPA dust collection system was used throughout the process to ensure that dust and debris didn’t spread into the rest of the home—an important detail that made a big difference for comfort during construction.
The heart of the new build? A stunning barrier-free shower. Walls were first prepped with moisture-resistant greenboard to protect against future moisture issues, and additional backing was installed to support grab bars and—potentially—shower doors in the future.
The shower pan, a slip-resistant composite stone in a white sand finish with subtle black speckles, was custom-fit at 42 x 60 inches and featured a new, relocated drain to match the layout. The walls were wrapped in a crisp acrylic surround with a classic subway tile pattern, sealed tight to ensure long-lasting durability. A window kit was also prepped for installation, since the shower includes a standard window—a thoughtful touch that brings in natural light while maintaining privacy.
For safety and accessibility, a brushed nickel grab bar was installed, supported by reinforced wall backing. Comfort wasn’t overlooked either—three floating teak shower seats were installed, all with sturdy backing for secure use. These additions blend functionality with spa-like luxury, providing both style and peace of mind.
A brushed metal corner shelf was added in the client’s preferred location, with the option to upgrade to a stainless steel recessed niche if desired—at no extra charge. It’s all about offering customization to meet each homeowner’s needs.
To complete the transformation, a sleek sliding glass shower enclosure was installed. Featuring a clear glass design and brushed nickel hardware, the enclosure includes a spot-resistant coating on the interior surface to help reduce water stains and keep cleaning to a minimum. It’s the perfect finishing touch for a shower designed with both form and function in mind.
The entire project was scheduled with the homeowner in mind. Materials were pre-ordered and confirmed before the start of construction to avoid delays, and the actual installation was completed in just two days—a quick turnaround for a space that will serve its owners for years to come.
