HISA Approved Barrier Free Shower for Valton

Apr 24, 2025

This recent bathroom upgrade was designed to improve safety, comfort, and accessibility while giving the space a fresh, modern look.

We began by covering the vanity, bathroom flooring, and nearby walkways to protect the home during renovation. Once everything was prepped, we removed the old shower walls and tub, clearing the way for a complete transformation.

With demolition complete, a new barrier-free, slip-resistant shower pan was set and leveled in place. This pan included a collapsible foam threshold, making the entry smooth and safe for daily use.

The existing mixer valve was removed and replaced with a new, efficient model to improve water control and user experience. Inside the walls, we installed solid reinforcements to support grab bars, ensuring future accessibility and peace of mind.

To prepare for the new shower walls, we added plywood backing and moisture-resistant sheet rock, creating a durable foundation. Then came the three-wall acrylic surround in a white marble finish, upgraded with a subway tile pattern that reaches all the way to the ceiling. Every joint was professionally sealed to protect against moisture.

The project wrapped up with the installation of a new shower head with handheld option, a securely mounted grab bar, and a curved shower rod paired with a weighted curtain, delivering both function and style.
